The Slow Down...

Weight loss slowed down due to me eating out more and started drinking caffeine again. But I will be stopping that. I need to get back on track. I did lose 2 pounds this week which makes me 1 pound away from the 40 pound loss mark and being officially in the 260's. We will see next week.

All this being said this morning weigh in I lost 2 pounds last week. Still good to see it go down a little.Tomorrow I am starting Insanity again so hopefully I will see me weight to continue to go down. One of my good friends weddings is in 3 weeks. Its Official!!!

Today as I stepped on the scale for my weekly weigh in I noticed something that made me almost jump for joy. That something was me realizing that I have officially lost over 30 pounds! 10 and 20 pounds was cool but now losing 30 shows that I am doing something right and I know that I will be able to continue.

Also from this weeks weigh in I learned that I need to eat more. I am sticking to my diet that I wrote out a couple weeks ago but due to me working out so much and running around I am losing weight really fast. Not that I should complain about that but it's better to lose weight slowly then really fast.

Well guys this last week I lost about 6 pounds. Which is why I wrote the little spill above about eating more. This next week will probably be a lower weight loss total because I am heading back to KY and will be eating out a few meals. Well everyone thanks for stopping by. I am officially starting Month 3 of my weight loss journey!

Bye Bye 300, 290, and 280's

Jacob beat me to posting this week. I am proud of him! Well last week i got sick which means I lost more weight then expected. I am sure that at the beginning of this week i probably put a few pounds back on due to eating nothing. Well i guess it's time to finally admit my original weight. I started this journey out at about 309 pounds which still kind of freaks me out to think of. But after this weeks weigh in I am down to 279.8 pounds. Good bye 300,290, and 280. I don't like you and don't want to see you ever again!! I am also less then a pound away from losing 30 pounds. Thus things are going well. Next week I move back to KY which will be the main challenge in weight loss but I'm not worried. Well we will see how next weeks weigh in goes. Stay tuned!!

5K

I ran in my first 5K this weekend and I have to say I have learned a lot about running a race.  It is not just about preparing but the actually running of the race.  It is all about pacing yourself and not letting the emotion of the race get in the way.  I had to learn that one the hard way.  I did finish the race but I had to walk part of the way. I finished with a time of 46:20.  I am now in the process of choosing my next race.  I think it might be the Roo Bear Run that benefits The Center for Courageous Kids in Glasgow, KY or the Blueberry Festival 5K.   I have also lost one lbs this week so that puts be back at 24 lbs total.  Brent you should be proud you did not have to remind me to post this time!

The Bump In The Road

Ok so I have hit a road block! The past two weeks I have stayed the same weight! This is really frustrating because since i have started this back at the beginning of Feb. I have always lost.  So I think this week I am going to change up my diet and cut back on some of the things that I used to be able to eat and still lose weight.  I am super excited that even though I have not lost any weight this past week I am still running in the 5K this Saturday!  I really need to buckle down and make this adventure worth the struggle!

Brent vs Weight Loss

I imagined this epic battle between myself and my body when I decided to finally get serious and lose weight but this epic battle has been nothing more then my body surrendering. It has not even put up a real fight. Kind of frustrating in my imagination but awesome in reality. I guess it does truly help that I do know how to get in shape and what to properly eat. I imagine that if I never did any athletics or worked out before this would be tough. I also destroyed most of mental blocks pretty quickly which was a big surprise because I expected mentally for this to be a little harder. But no need for me to complain about this being too easy because that is just dumb. Well this week went extra well and I noticed that clothes are fitting really well and my face has thinned out a lot. My new fb picture kind of shows that a little bit.

Also i have 3 weeks before I get back to KY and would love to lose about 6-8 more pounds before then. I guess I want to make sure that people notice a change which is prideful of me.(confessing sin) Well time to start the next week. Below I posted my weeks weight loss and total weight loss. Thanks for stopping by.

This week has been a hard week for me! At church we were getting prepared for our Easter pageant and that means several dinners made by the older ladies of the church (not healthy food) and I have slacked off on my workouts and because of that I have maintained my weight.  Which is good but not great. So  up to today I have lost a total of 23 lbs and only 52 more to go by Christmas!  I will make it.  Plus not this Saturday but next Saturday I will be running in my first 5k and I am super excited about that!

Starting to love this feeling!!

So i have become a gym rat this week. This is something kind of surprising to me because I use to hate the gym when I had to go everyday in high school and part of college but I found that I love it. I went with a couple friends a few days this week and they kind of were surprised that I knew what i was doing. (I guess they didnt believe me when I told them I use to be athletic) Also I really enjoy that post workout feeling now. This week was pretty awesome and I am excited to get back into it this week.

For those reading this wondering exactly what I am doing to lose weight here it is. I eat a low calorie diet of about 2200 calories a day and watch my carbs and eat a lot of high protein foods. Also i pretty much walk everywhere. I live a few blocks from the seminary so i walk to class, walk to the gym, anything that is near by. Also i try to be physically active for about an hour a day. Whether that be the gym or playing some Ultimate Frisbee or going to the track thats by my apartment and just run for awhile. Also I ONLY drink water. I use to not like it but now I love it. This really works for me and I am sure it will work for you if you try it.

Well when I stepped on the scale today it said that I lost..............(building suspense).................5 POUNDS!! This was really surprising to me but I love it. Also its good to know that most of that's fat since I am drinking about 150 ounces of water a day now so i know its not water weight. Also this makes me break the 20 pound barrier which is AWESOME!!

Its Getting Easier......

Well I am done with one month of dieting and excerise and this last week lost a little over 4 pounds. I am really remembering how much I did enjoy working out and running around. I am also trying to work my way up to running a 5k just like Jacob. There is one in September that I will be running in. It is dedicated to Dr. Joel Turner daughter who passed away in the fall. Dr. Turner is a Political Science professor and a good friend so i would not miss it. I hope everyone reading this will join me and some of my friends from the Political Science Department at WKU in racing in it.

I win!

So today was our church picnic and we had a blast! Aside from the Easter Egg Hunt and the Youth vs. adults softball game was the end of the Biggest Loser.  I bet you will never guess who won? OK I will tell you. It was me.  I lost a total of 23 lbs and more then 2 inches off my waist.  That calculates in to 7.16 percent of my body weight.  Now since this is not where I want my ideal weight to be (298) I am still on track to lose more weight.  I would like to be down around 250 lbs around Christmas 2011.  I know that I can do this by being smart with my food choices and to keep up the workout!  I would like to say that I am still training for the FBC Tifton 5K that is happening on April 30.  I have also already started looking for other 5Ks to run in once this one is over.

I am a slacker!

OK so I missed my Monday update because Biggest Loser at FBC Tifton switched our weigh in day to this Friday because it is the final week and to tell you the truth as of last week I had lost 21 lbs and that translate into 6.54% of my body weight that I have lost.  I will say that I feel much better after all of this and that with training for the 5k has played a big part of that!  Today I found out that I was in the lead of our group at church but I will find out the results on Sunday at our church picnic!

weight lost: 21
percentage: -6.54%

Update from Brent

Well this last week was fun. I didnt get to start the Insanity like i wanted to. Somehow it got lost in the mail and did not get here until Saturday. So I am starting that today which will probably not be much fun. Well this last week I lost about 2 pounds. Which is pretty good. Due to the "Biggest Loser" world people now expect huge weigh loss each week. I am not that guy because that is not realistic. No one outside of that show has the ability to work out all day like they do and lose lots of weight a week. It can also be very unhealthy. Now i dont want to bash that show because some people love it but in real weight loss it isnt realistic. 2-3 pounds a week is a good goal.

The Journey

Welcome to the blog!! Jacob and I even though we are separated by about 900 miles(yes I looked it up) wanted to be able to keep each other accountable on this journey so we decided to start this blog. I think this is a good way for us and you to be able to see our progress and to be able to help out. We will be updating this blog weekly and give updates on our journey.

Well I guess it is time for my journey. Well I entered college weighing about 240 and was in pretty good shape. Well then I quit WKU's Track and Field team and pretty much stopped working out all together. Over the next 3-4 years I would put on over 50 pounds. Recently someone told me that if you lose your health you lose your ministry. This kind of sunk in and 3 weeks ago I started trying to get back in shape. So far I have lost about 8 pounds, which is pretty good. Also later this week i will be starting Insanity.

Check back with us.

A New Beginning!

OK so I wanted to go ahead and get a leg up on Brent about posting on here!  It seems that he is better about remembering to do this then I am.  I hope that we can encourage each other and maybe someone else!

I have lost 21 lbs over the last 9 weeks and I am now in my 6th week of training for a 5k.  This is not been an easy journey for me but I am now getting to a place where it is becoming a regular routine.  Now that we have this new blog where we can keep each other accountable it will be easier! Also I have dropped some inches off my waist along with the weight!  Here is to you and me Brent!
